Hiking on Mount Tomaros above Dodoni
In spring, the Dodoni valley turns green, and the trails of Mount Tomaros, also known as Olytsika, come back to life. The routes begin near the Oracle of Dodona and pass through oak forests, springs, and small waterfalls, offering views over the valley and the archaeological site.
What you will find along the trails
- Oak forests and peaceful clearings
- Springs and small waterfalls
- Views of the Ancient Theatre of Dodona
- Mountain landscapes on the slopes of Mount Tomaros
When is the best time for hiking?
Spring is one of the best seasons for hiking in Dodoni, as the landscape is lush and green and temperatures are milder. The lower trails can be explored during much of the year, but weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly.
What to bring with you
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water and a light jacket. Long trousers are also recommended for less frequently used trails.
